The online newspaper NA24 has in a number of articles mentioned the former DJ and pyramid leader Jarl Moe, who has been reviewed in a number of countries.
But it is not only strangers that Jarl has had to invest in his projects.
Now his Cypriot family stands up and tells their story.
- We are a very closely related family, says Ibrahim Paso to Nettavisen NA24.
Ibrahim is related to Jarl Moe's late wife.
- We got to know Jarl when he married our cousin, and since we came from the same family, we spent a lot of time together, Ibrahim says.
He says that Jarl Moe gave a very good impression and was a nice person, who also had some money.
- I was aware that he drove very big, but I did not know what he was doing and I did not understand it either.
However, the family idyll began to crack after Jarl suggested that they cooperate.
- My father died in 1995 in a car accident and we inherited some money. Jarl told me that I could make some extra money, if I wanted to, says Ibrahim.
He says that he was then 21 years old and was envisioned a risk-free investment that would provide a high monthly return.
- After my father's death, I have mainly taken care of my mother, my two sisters and my family. I talked to the family about Jarl's offer because the money I invest is the family's legacy. We agreed to invest, says Ibrahim.
With that, the family invested 120,000 pounds three years ago, just over 1.2 million at today's exchange rate, of the paternal heritage in one of Jarl Moe's projects.
- A few months later we asked what happened, because we did not get access to the funds. Jarl explained that it took some time, so we settled down and waited.
But after a year, the family wanted to get their money back.
- I Jarl told me I wanted to go out, but nothing happened. He then told me that we must not withdraw the money now, because it was about to be a good return. But I have seen afterwards that he was just trying to buy himself time
Then, however, a dramatic situation arose where one of Ibrahim's sisters became ill and the family needed money to go to a specialist in Turkey.
- I said that this was serious and that we needed money. The earl said he needed a few days. After a few days, he then transferred 20,000 euros, says Ibrahim.
For the next few months, the family's focus was on the sick sister, not on the money they had given to Jarl.
- After a while I contacted Jarl again, but he just kept sending me papers and promises that the investment would pay off.
Then the family was hit by a new serious illness. This time it was Jarl Moe's wife who was hit.
- When it happened, I did not want to aggravate the situation and money was no longer so important. Then our whole focus was on her. We did not think of anything other than her, says Ibrahim.
When she became ill, Jarl and his wife moved to England. But the disease worsened dramatically.
- After my cousin died, he disappeared. It was after he had disappeared that I became really suspicious of what he had done, says Ibrahim.
Then Jarl returned to Cyprus, where he has mostly lived in recent years.
- Then I met him, because my sister had not gotten better and needed to perform an operation.
- But even though Jarl gave me 20,000 euros back for the specialist, I did not get any more money when she had to perform the operation, despite the fact that I constantly emphasized how important it was that this was performed.
As the operation was vital, they had to go elsewhere.
- So instead of getting the money, I had to borrow 12,000 pounds to cover the costs, a loan I still repay.
Jarl Moe has been reported by a number of people in Norway, Sweden, England and Cyprus for economic crime.
Moe is alleged to have cheated more than five million euros, or 40 million kroner.
The names of several celebrities have been used to promote Jarl's projects. During a two-year period from 2011 to 2013, Moe also cultivated friendships with "Svennis".
- I have reported him to the police in England and Cyprus, says Ibrahim.
He says that this is now a big issue with the police, and hopes that it will give results.
- I think he has money and that we can get them back if they manage to catch him.
The online newspaper NA24 has previously written that Jarl Moe has collaborated with the previously convicted Norwegian Kristian Helgesen, who has also been reported to the police in Norway for gross fraud.
- Have you met any of Moe's colleagues?
- Yes, I have met Kristian Helgesen twice, but no one else.
Ibrahim had no financial background when he made the investment, but says he was persuaded by Jarl Moe.
- After I was introduced to Jarl, I have done my own research and found that the returns he talked about are unlikely. But I was 21 years old at the time and we are a very closely related family. We do not steal from each other.
Now he has the following message for the man who married into his family.
- I want my money back!
Jarl Moe denies that the allegations of his married family are true.
- You have been presented with incorrect and misleading information which to me looks like an attempt to use you as a tool in a smear campaign, says Jarl Moe to Nettavisen NA24.
- This approach to you is just a part of several things they are doing to try to pressure me, but it is too long and uninteresting story, he says.
